Before we start
This guide will be used for the tablet only, no HoloLens 🕶️ needed.
0.1 You need to have an assembly assigned to you to work with that assembly. If you do not have it, please choose one from your project to check it with this guide.

For this guide, you also need to have a simple assembly such as a beam or a column. Please do not choose a complex assembly with more than 3 details - we will teach you how to work with them in the advanced guides.

0.2 Make sure you have login credentials to log in into FabStation App on your tablet.

If you do not have login credentials, please contact your manager to obtain them.

Here, we will show you some basic FabStation capabilities, such as:

Step 1: Log in into the FabStation App
To log in into the FabStation App, first look for the app icon on the right, select and launch it.

NOTE: If you can't find the App within the device, please contact your manager or IT department to ensure that the App was installed.
1.1 Login to FabStation App.

- Your username should populate automatically, so please choose it from the drop-down.

- Use password provided to you for the app login.

Once it’s done, the app should download all relevant data.
1.2 Once data is downloaded, you may be reverted to the login screen.

If this is the case, please click on "LOGIN" again.

After that, you should see the Home screen.

1. Check your Wifi.

If your network connection is unstable or your device goes to sleep, the download process may be interrupted. If this occurs, turn off-on the app, restart it and go to the FabStation App settings > click Sync Device.

Then try to log in.

2. Check with the manager/IT department if the device is added to the web portal properly and entered a correct MAC address. They can refer to this guide.

Step 2: Find your assembly

Once you are inside the home screen, you can enjoy many convenient features to make your work easier! 👷👷🏿

FabStation has powerful search capabilities to help you quickly find the assembly you are assigned to work on.
To find your assembly:

2.1 Choose a project from the dropdown.

2.2 Click on "Search" and use the keyboard on the screen to find your assembly:

2.3 As you proceed inputting the assembly name, the correct one will appear:

💡 TIP: there is also an option to search by "Sequence" next to search by the "Assembly".

Step 3: Modes overview

After finding your assembly, there are 3 options to choose between: Fabricate, Inspect and View:
Does your company use the Production Status system?*

3.1 If your company/you are using the status system, let's learn a bit more about all of the modes.

The main difference between Fabricate, Inspect and View - is that unlike the first 2 options, View doesn't automatically change the status of the assembly.

So, unless you want to change the assembly status, please always use the mode.

allows you to start fabricating an assembly. The selection made will automatically update the assembly’s status to Fabricating, or remain unchanged/Not Started in the system, depending on which path was chosen.

would be selected when inspecting an assembly that has been fabricated. It can also change the assembly’s status to Inspecting for reporting purposes.

3.1 If your company is not using status system, please do not use Fabricate and Inspect modes - you will not need them, as they change the assembly status which is irrelevant for your job.

Here, we will tell you more about a mode and how to use it to make your work more easy and enjoyable.
3.1 If you are not sure whether you need to use the status system, please clarify it with your manager.

Meanwhile, let's proceed with the mode overview as the most basic option.

You can return to this guide again later to check Fabricate and Inspect parts of the guide if you click on "Yes we use it" option above. Please do not use Fabricate and Inspect modes until you are sure that your company uses Production Status modes.

3.2 View mode

Once you found your assembly, you can click on the View mode (if it is not already highlighted) and select an assembly from there.
Click on the subassembly and proceed with OK button.

NOTE: when in a View mode, you can choose any one of the versions shown. However, you have to carefully select the right version when in Fabricate or Inspect modes. Click on the drop-down below for more information.

Please be careful while choosing a subassembly in Fabricate or Inspect modes.

The subassembly represents each instance of the assembly. For example, if you have D1001 (as per the screenshot above), it has a quantity of 4 required (this is reflected in the 2D drawing as well).

So each version (i.e. D1001.1 D1001.2) listed is tracking each instance. Please make sure you pick one "Not Started" or resume on the one you have already started and paused.

Once you pass the selection screen, you will be in the main area of the View mode:

It provides full information of the chosen assembly.

As you can see on the screenshots, it lists the status (i.e. inspected), if the assembly is locked, sequence and finish.

If there is a comment created for the assembly, it will also be present within this area.

NOTE: Please disregard Load, as it's not used for now.
Main actions

The fabricate menu allows viewing assembly details in various formats.

Here, we will only provide an overview of these features - there is no need to dig into them now, as you will have a separate short course for all of them later 😉

Let's first clarify the difference between the first and the last buttons: Fab-Assist and Auto-Fab.

is the tablet based Augmented Reality (AR) feature that allows you to view the completed assembly and understand how and where the work needs to be performed.

is the HoloLens based AR feature that uses the tablet as a controller.

So, the main difference between those two, is that Auto-Fab needs a HoloLens.

(2D) and (3D) are tablet-based viewers that will help your day-to-day work, giving you access to more information about the assembly and and how it fits within the project.

And lastly, allows you to update the assembly from this menu screen (pause it or change it to not started).
Navigation buttons

There are 3 simple options: Exit, Home and Settings.

Please disregard Settings, as there are not many settingd you will need to change.

Home icon will navigate back to the home screen where Fabricate, Inspect and View are located.

Power icon will allow you to exit the FabStation App.
Task:

Navigate to the View mode with your assembly and check if you have the same options as described on the screenshot above. Feel free to click around and briefly check the content of the pages linked to the buttons on the View mode.

3.3 Fabricate mode looks very similar to View mode. For the number references, feel free to get back to the View mode.
As you see, the structure is the same as with Fabricate, however, the main difference is when you enter this mode from the homepage, there will be a prompt to change the assembly status.

If you click on "Yes" the assembly status will be updated everywhere.

Otherwise you can click on "View" and check the assembly via the View mode.

3.4 There are 2 main differences between Fabricate and Inspect mode:

1) While Fabricate has Fab-Assist and Auto-Fab mode, for Inspect it's QC-Assist and Auto-QC respectively.

However, for now, their functionality is exactly the same: QC-Assist is the same as Fab-assist and Auto-Fab as the same functionality as Auto-QC.

NOTE: You will learn more about QC-Assist and Auto-QC as well as about Fabricate functionality in the next lessons.

2) When you enter the Inspect mode from the homepage, it will offer you to change the status to Inspecting:
